Residence: Elk River

I started fishing with my Grandfather and my dad, my grandfather worked at Dixico (printing) and the business had a cabin on Horseshoe lake (West Memphis), he was lucky enough to be the keeper of the place.  So we got to use it quite often, I remember his Tan and Orange Ouachita Bass boat with a bright orange Johnson 75 Stinger outboard. We would fish for bass, crappie, catfish and brim. I remember fishing by huge cypress trees and huge areas that were covered with Lilly pads, he had my first big bass mounted for me and I still have that 35-year-old mount.

My father lived on Lake Tishomingo is St Louis County for years and we would fish his lake for bass, catfish, brim and monster red ear. Twice a year we would go to Toledo Bend (East Texas) and bass fish, that lake provided the biggest bass each of us had ever caught and 8.5 and a 9.1.  There are countless great fishing stories from that lake, I wish I would have written down and documented it all.

We met some of the best fishing guides there, one story comes to mind we were fishing with a guide named Bob Mathews, down at Pirates Cove and you would throw your plastic craw bait to the bank and pull to the grass line and bang FISH ON. We stopped to count fish and we were two short of our limit, I caught two bass on three casts and we put our poles down and went to the boat ramp all before noon. I wanted to be a fishing guide ever since.

We are lucky enough to live on the Elk River and run a small campground and canoe rental business.

Joined Ozark Angers in Aug of 07 and have posted plenty of fishing pictures and stories.

You can go back that far on the site and see pictures and read stories about the creeks and rivers close to my home. I have met several people through this site who love to fish and float, we are close friends with several of them to this day.

I would like to thank Phil for the help with Ozark Anglers Forum, you can see the post he made when he floated Big Sugar with his kids one day.

Post on the forum.
