Norfork Tailwater

Located below Norfork Lake.
4.8 miles of incredible trout fishing all year long. Again, you'll find rainbows, browns, brooks and cuts here. Special accesses allow fishing where fishing is the best- below the dam, McCellands and Handicap. Keep an eye on fishing reports- it gets good in the winter here!!

Beaver Tailwater/Upper White River

This is the upper-most cold water tailwater on the White River System. Though it flows only several miles before meeting Table Rock Lake, this beauty holds Brown, Rainbow, Brook and Cutthroat Trout as well as White Bass and even some renegade Hybrid Stripers from Beaver Lake.

Truman Tailwater/Upper Osage River

This large tailwater is one section of the Osage River and is the headwaters of Lake of the Ozarks. It is a major fish factory, when water releases attract baitfish, containing Hybrid Stripers and White Bass, Walleye, Catfish and about everything else that swims the lake.

Bagnell Dam Tailwater/Lower Osage River

This very large tailwater river is the final stretch of Osage River before its eventual confluence with the Missouri River. Its waters hold a smorgasbord of fish, most notably Stripers, Hybrid Stripers, White Bass and Catfish.

Powersite Dam Tailwater

This was the first dam constructed on the historic White River, being completed in 1915. It is the dam that created Lake Taneycomo, and the headwaters of Bull Shoals Lake. Any specie that swims in Bull Shoals Lake can be caught there under the right seasonal and water conditions.

North Fork of the White River

Southern Missouri sports some amazing spring-fed streams and the NFOW is at the top of the list. But you better bring your A-game... it's pools and riffles are a challenge for the best fly caster and the trout are not easily fooled.

St. Francis River

The St. Francis River, one of MO's finest and most diverse. From its headwaters in the St. Francois mountains to where it exits Missouri in the Southeast Mo. lowlands, it starts at one of the highest elevations and leaves at the lowest. The upper end is home to clear waters and fast runs. Whitewater championships are held in the upper reaches in the spring flood season. After the Little St. Francis and Big River enter in, the river forms deep runs with riffles at each end. It is dammed up from near Greenville to Wappapello Dam forming a 44,000 lake for flood control. After that it becomes a lowland river, slow and deep, full of silt, to Wilhelmina at Mo.'s lowest point.

Sac & Little Sac Rivers

These great little rivers flow from near Springfield to form the two arms of Stockton Lake. They contain healthy populations of resident smallmouth, spotted bass and panfish, and receive excellent spring runs of White Bass and Walleye.

Niangua River

This river is a tributary of Lake of the Ozarks. It is best known as a trout fishery below its confluence with Bennett Spring and as a popular float stream. It is a very good Smallmouth fishery, and the lower river below Tunnel Dam receives a good spring run of Hybrid Stripers and White Bass.

Black River

Located in Reynolds County, the Black River is one of the prettiest rivers in the state. Very very clear water. You can see the rocks on the bottom in 10-12 feet of water. Very nice smallmouth stream. But the clear water can make it tough to fish sometimes too.

August A. Busch Conservation Area

The Busch Conservation Area has 72 fishable lakes and ponds (photo left) ranging from tiny ponds of a few hundred square yards to the expansive 182-acre Lake 33. The 550 acres of water provide opportunities to catch bass, catfish, trout, muskie, crappie, and sunfish. The visitor center has 120 rental boats, bait, tackle, and licenses and will direct you to the lake managed for the fish species you’re after. There are 43 fishing of which 4 are disabled accessible.

Bourbeuse River

The Bourbeuse River (French for 'muddy') is located in east-central Missouri, in the Ozarks region, and is one of two major tributaries of the Meramec River, the other being Big River. The river flows to the northeast from its source near the locale of Dillon in Phelps County, through Maries County, Gasconade County, Crawford County, and Franklin County, where it discharges into the Meramec River near Moselle.

The upper Bourbeuse River is an excellent smallmouth bass stream. The middle and lower sections of the river are mostly dominated by spotted bass, but there are some smallmouth throughout. The entire river has catfish, longear sunfish, bluegill, and rock bass. It's a great, easy floating stream with pretty good access.

Tributaries of the Bourbeuse River include Spring Creek, Boone Creek, Brush Creek, Red Oak Creek, Dry Fork, Little Bourbeuse River, and Lower Bourbeuse River.

James River

This major tributary of Table Rock Lake develops its character over a journey of many miles, from the pristine upper river above Springfield MO where Smallmouth and panfish are plentiful, to the excellent Smallmouth and Spotted Bass float-fishing through its lower reaches. It also receives spring runs of big White Bass and Walleye.

These two rivers are tributaries of Grand Lake O' the Cherokees in OK. Its flow traverses part of SW MO, the corner of KS, and into OK where it receives spring runs of many species most notably White Bass and Hybrid Stripers.

Arkansas River (OK)

This huge prairie river traverses the state of Oklahoma and holds one of the relatively few self-sustaining populations of inland Striped Bass in the country. Opportunities to catch trophy Stripers, as well as Hybrid Stripers and White Bass exist throughout this great fishery, year-round.

Upper and Lower Illinois River (OK)

The upper 70 miles of this river above Tenkiller Lake are easy-flowing with mild rapids and are protected as a Scenic River. The Illinois River is loved for its natural beauty in the Oklahoma Ozark Hills, its recreational value as a paddling stream, and its smallmouth and largemouth bass fishing. It also has a nice spring run of White Bass.

The lower river below Tenkiller Dam is managed as a year-around trout fishery and was the first such stream in the state. The last few miles of this river, just above its confluence with the Arkansas River, is known for its great Striped Bass fishing.

James A. Reed Conservation Area

The James A. Reed Memorial Wildlife Area is located in Jackson County, south of Highway 50, near Lee's Summit. This wildlife area was established in 1952 when Mrs. Nell Reed donated 731 acres of land to the Missouri Department of Conservation in memory of her husband, Senator James A. Reed.

Bennett Springs State Park

The third largest spring in Missouri provides one and a half miles of spring branch fishing and 12 miles of Red ribbon fishing on the Niangua river for Rainbows and Trophy Browns. First stocked in 1900 and acquired by the state in 1923, it continues as a popular destination.

Montauk State Park

Montauk Spring is the headwaters of the Current River. The spring section of the State Park is flies only. It is a mid sized spring creek, usually well stocked with rainbows. The stream is anything goes as it winds around the campground section of the park. The stretch from below the campground to the trophy water, is flats and riffles and can see some big browns that have migrated upstream from Tan Vat.
