by BruteFish83 of OAF  ~~ I was on the river at about seven this morning. The weather was in the low 40s and humid with a heavy cloud cover that lasted much of the morning. I started off with an articulated streamer pattern that I came up with but couldn’t get any takes. I switched to a #16 copper john which paid off with a nice rainbow after nymphing it through some fast water.

I was tempted to switch to a dry as there was heavy top water action occurring. I stuck with nymphs because they seemed to also be working well and I typically take larger fish on them as opposed to dry flies. The fly of the day ended up being the San Juan worm after taking three nice browns on it. The first one pictured was pushing 21″ and was only on the ground for a few seconds before I released him.
