Bennett Springs

Bennett Springs State Park attracts the largest number of trout anglers over any other trout park in Missouri. The reason is there are more waters to fish, more nice places to stay and more to do in the surrounding area. The hatchery there stocks rainbows and brown trout in its stream every day of its summer season as well as some in the winter catch-and-release season, giving every fisherperson a good chance to hook and land a limit of four trout. Its banks are easy to fish from, and there’s handicap accessibility for the people who need it. Bennett’s waters run clear from its spring that produces about 100 million gallons per day.

brittsnbird’s fishing report, December 5

I had the opportunity to go down last Thursday (11/29) for a few days. A buddy of mine just switched jobs and had a few days off. So we hooked up the anchor and jumped in the truck and ran down. We got down to CG 1 around 1100 and set up then headed for the river. I don’t think I’ve ever seen such a slow flow. We managed to make our way down below 64 bridge to the ramp and found some riffles. I hooked up to a 3 lb. brown on the P&P on the 3 rd pass, what a way to start a trip. My buddy caught some small Bows nothing great.

Wornica’s fishing report, November 9

Posted by Phil Lilley on November 9th, 2012

I fished yesterday for the first time in the Winter Catch and Release program and thoroughly enjoyed it! The weather was in the mid 40’s and only saw about 10 anglers. I caught 3 rainbows on the surface with a Renegade (one on my first cast just above the dam in in zone 1, then took about an hour to get two more just below the dam in zone 2. Went to a gray scud and caught 5 more in then next 2 hours. Had a great time!
